  • Launching of the vessel Ocean Marlin in Pasajes

    The past 31st of January, the Zamakona Yards successfully launched the vessel “Ocean Marilin” in its installations in Pasajes in Northern Spain.

     

    The vessel is the second which Zamakona Yards has launched of the three vessels contracted with the Norwegian shipping company, Atlantic Offshore A.S. The principal mission of the vessel will be to provide immediate attention in emergency situations to Offshore Oil Rigs and Installations. Being especially adapted to the severe climatic conditions of the North Sea, it will commence operations for the Oil Company TOTAL in the second semester of 2014.

     

    The vessel, built in Pasajes, is a Field Support Vessel (FSV) of Havyard HY820 Design. With a price of nearly 25 million Euros, the vessel incorporates the latest technologies including: dynamic positioning, fire control systems, machinery, towing pins on deck, stern roller, etc.

     

    With a length of 66.8 meters, a breadth of 16 meters and two MAN motors with a capacity of 2500 KW each, the vessel has the capacity to rescue 300 persons.

  • Zamakona Yards signed an agency agreement with Dolven Maritime Agency (DMA)

    Last week, Zamakona Yards (Canary Islands Division) and Dolven Maritime Agency signed a commercial agreement to promote the interests and goodwill of our company for work of repair and conversion of ships, offshore projects and fabrications of heavy structure.

     

    This agreement is non exclusive entrusted agent and it´s to represent our services in Norway for two years (extended automatically year by year).

     

    Mr Aage H. Dolven (Managing Director) declared “We are pleased to represent Zamakona Yards and since today I´m full time on this project, and busy calling and on E-mail every day”. Zamakona Yards expects to improve deeply our presence in Norway and Scandinavian markets with this new agency.

     

    Dolven Maritime Agency (DMA) is a Norwegian company who mainly is engaged in selling maintenance services to the merchant fleets in Scandinavia.

     

    DMA was started in 1997, and has been in the markets since then in various tasks like conversions, repairs and docking on world wide basis, other tasks has been inspections and follow up of sale and buying of vessels, as well as changing of flag, ownership, class etc.

  • Zamakona Yards delivers the Ro-Ro ramp to the Tenerife Container Terminal (TCT)

    This past Wednesday, 15 January, Zamakona Yards carried out the load testing and delivery of the movable ramp for the Roll on-Roll off dock built for the Container Terminal of Tenerife (OHL Group). This innovative elevating structure is the only of its kind in the Canary Islands, permitting a more versatile use of the pier since it will only be employed when vessels with rolling stock arrive (Ro-Ro), permitting the use of the dock for conventional vessels at other times.

     

    It consist of an elevating ramp, 25 meters wide by 20 meters long, for vessels docking at this point in Tenerife. The ramp, which weighs 170 tons is designed to support rolling cargos of 54 tons and static cargos of 30 tons.

     

    The ramp is equipped with an ultimate generation electrical system which permits it to be raised to a vertical position when not being used, leaving the dock free to accommodate conventional vessels. In the raised position, noine of the components protrude more than two meters from the edge.

     

    When inclined it will descend to an angle from the dock from 5,20 meters to 2,90 meters above the equinoctial low tide.

     

    This elevating Ro-Ro Ramp is the first of this type by the Basque-Canarian Group and the 11th of the total ramps built, having fabricated in the last 22 years conventional ramps for different public administrations including; The Port Authority of Las Palmas, The Port Authority of Bilbao, The Port Authority of Pasajes, Naviera Armas and in this last cas, The OHL Group of Tenerife.

     

    With this last construction, Zamakona Yards moves to the Forefront of Spanish shipyards in the construction and installation of Ro-Ro ramps in the Canary Islands and The Iberian Peninsula as well as to the vanguard worldwide in the design and construction of this type of structure.

  • Zamakona Yards delivered the Tuna-Freezer vessel Ízaro to the Echebastar Group

    The Echebaster Group received its new Tuna-Freezer vessel last Saturday at 12:00 from the hands of Zamakona Yards after its inauguration at the Maritime Cruise Station at Getxo, Port of Bilbao.

     

    This new Tuna vessel has a length of almost 90 meters and a capacity of 1900 m3 of fish in its 20 freezers with accommodation for 42 crew aboard and a top speed of 18.2 knots. This Saturday, the inauguration of the first of a series of three Tuna-Freezer vessels of similar characteristics that Zamakona Yards will deliver to the Bermean company by next year.

    Atra Holland B.V. was established in 1979. At that time the company exported ship-equipment to Poland for the many newbuildings in the 3 huge newbuilding yards.

     

    Atra Holland B.V. changed the activities after break-down of the Wall in 1989 and started to represent shiprepairyards for the Netherlands, the first ones were Polish repairyards. By the time more repairyards could be added to agency- portfolio; most of them came to us by means of promotional words of shipowners.

  • Visita del Alcalde de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a Zamakona Yards

    En la mañana de hoy viernes 29 de noviembre a las 8:30, el Excmo. Sr. Alcalde de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, D. Juan José Cardona realizó una visita a las instalaciones de Zamakona Yards en el Puerto de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Estuvo acompañado por la Concejala de distrito Puerto Dña. Carolina León y el Jefe Área Infraestructuras e Ingeniería de la Autoridad Portuaria, D. Salvador Capella.

     

    Durante la visita se mantuvo una reunión de trabajo con el CEO del Grupo Zamakona Yards en Canarias D. Alvaro Garaygordóbil, con el Director General D. Borja Garaygordóbil y el Director de Marketing D. Leandro Aguirreche.

     

    Durante la reunión el Sr. Alcalde tuvo la oportunidad de conocer de primera mano la actividad de reparaciones navales que desarrolla nuestro grupo en Gran Canaria desde 1972, mostrándose muy interesado en los proyectos actuales que Zamakona Yards está realizando.

     

    Ahora mismo, Zamakona Yards está trabajando en la ampliación del carro Nº 4 y la futura construcción de un Taller especializado en la reparación de hélices azimutales en la parcela recientemente concedida por el consejo de la Autoridad Portuaria en el muelle Reina Sofía.

     

    El Sr. Cardona destacó la importancia de nuestro sector en la economía canaria y expresó la absoluta disposición del Ayuntamiento que preside a colaborar en la promoción de nuestro puerto como una de las ejes claves del plan de internacionalización de la ciudad que está liderando.

  • Modernization and improvement at Zamakona Yards Canary Islands

    As part of our program to improve our services for OUR CUSTOMERS, we are proud to inform you that work has commenced at ours shipyard at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Repnaval (Zamakona Yards), increasing the capacity and tonnage or our slipways.

     

    Specifically, we are preparing our slipway Nº 4 to receive vessels of 120 meters length and 20 meters breadth with lightweight tonnages of 5500 Tons for flat bottomed vessels and 4500 Tons for keeled vessels. The work is expected to be completed in January of 2014.

  • Zamakona Yards Pasaia finishes the repairs done in dry dock on the ship Juan de la Cosa

    Last August, the Social Marine Institute awarded our shipyard in Pasaia the repair, maintenance and commissioning of the ship Juan de la Cosa.

     

    This iconic hospital ship provides useful service to the Spanish fishing fleet, supplying health care “in situ” to anyone who requests it and is within the area it covers. In situations of high risk and severity, the vessel has the means to evacuate ill persons to land in the most suitable and quickest possible way. In addition to health activities, the vessel also provides emergency logistics support such as fishing net release service, dive service, electrical repairs etc.

     

    With a length of 75 meters and a width of 14 meters, it has a dedicated area for castaways, common areas, service areas and cabins for ill persons. It has an operating room with videoconferencing equipment for medical use, should assistance be need in surgical operations. It also has an analytical laboratory, a treatment room and an isolated x-ray room. It also has a heliport, speedboats and a rescue boat.

     

    During the month of October, all jobs to bring the vessel up to date were carried out during dry docking such as: boiler overhaul, preparation work, hull and deck blasting and painting, tank cleaning, pump-, davit-, propeller-, stabilizing fins repairs and maintenance and finally testing all equipment.

     

    Having terminated these jobs, Zamakona Yards has fulfilled its commitment to the Spanish Government and the Social Marine Institute and the seafarers. The ship is now ready and in perfect condition to serve the fishing fleet in the North Atlantic during the bonito, the anchovies and the swordfish campaigns.

     

    We would like to send our appreciation to these maritime professionals who do such a good job for our seafarers.

  • The “Best Spanish Ship Built in 2012” award was granted to Zamakona Yards

    On Thursday October 24, the Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in Spain (AINE) handed over the award for Best Spanish ship built in 2012 to Zamakona Yards. The event took place as part of the 52nd Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry for the year 2013, under the theme “Engineers and Engineering. The sea as an opportunity”.

     

    Our President Mr. Pedro Garaygordobil received the reward from Mr. Luis Vilches Collado, Dean – President of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in Spain. The award certifies that the ship ESVAGT AURORA is the Best Spanish ship built in 2012. The event took place at a gala dinner held at the Club de Campo in Madrid.

     

    Zamakona Yards won the final at Metalships & Docks with the vessel North Ocean 105 and Armón Vigo shipyard with the ship Angeles Alvariño.

     

    The shipowner is the company Esvagt AS, owned by the Danish multinational AP Møller – Mærsk. ESVAGT AURORA’s primary mission is to provide immediate assistance to emergency situations and to provide support to deep sea operations. The ship is specially adapted to service in adverse weather conditions in the Barents Sea.

     

    The vessel incorporates the latest cutting-edge technological developments for the launch and recovery of rescue boats, de-icing equipment to prevent accumulation on deck as well as equipment for pollution control. It meets the highest standards required by the Norwegian authorities for this type of vessels.

     

    With this award, Zamakona Yards is positioned as market leader in Spain and Europe manufacturing offshore vessels.

  • Zamakona Yards delivers the “RONJA POLARIS” to Sølvstrans

    Zamakona Yards delivers the Live Fish Carrier RONJA POLARIS to Sølvtrans AS at the shipyard in Bilbao – Spain to the satisfaction to the Owners and the Norwegian Regulatory bodies for food transportation. This ship is the first of the two sister vessels.

     

    Mr Roger CEO of Sølvtrans AS said on delivery of the vessel: “the ship´s construction quality is high and I am satisfied with the shipyard”.

     

    The ship is specialized to transport live fish as salmon, trout, smolts and other farmed species. The design has been made by Rolls Royce Marine with the collaboration with the Owner and the Shipyard and she incorporates the new technologies in the in the transport of live fish.

     

    The cargo tanks has been designed in close cooperation with Sølvtrans and MMC so that the water circulation is ensured throughout the interior of the tank for which the system has been validated by rigorous CFD studies attesting adequate water circulation inside the wells in any navigation condition. This has a direct impact on reducing mortality of live fish and the quality end. The ship comply with the new requirements about the environmental regulations to be in force in 2016.

     

    The RONJA POLARIS has an overall length of 75,80 m and a cargo capacity of 3200 cu.m. in three well. The propulsion is diesel electric with two electric motors of 1500 ekW each.
