Presentation ceremony of the agreement between Zamakona and the Finnish GS-Hydro

Yesterday, January 29th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Zona Franca in the Las Palmas Port took place the presentation ceremony of the Finnish multinational leader in water services GS-Hydro, new partner of Zamakona Yards in Canarias.
The event, attended by leading companies from both Las Palmas Port and Canarias ´industry, attended by the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Mr. Luis Ibarra, Zamakona Yards´ CEO in the Canary Islands, Mr. Álvaro Garaygordobil, Mr. Jukka Suotsalo, Vice President of Business Development at the GS-Hydro Corporation, Mr. Borja Garaygordobil, General Director of Zamakona Yards in Canarias and Mr. Pablo Moya, General Director of GS-Hydro SAU who was in charge of the presentation of the services that GS-Hydro will offer now in Canarias.
This event follows the agreement signed last December in Zamakona´s offices in Las Palmas, has an initial term of two years and will involve the inclusion of hydraulic services in the already extensive range of services offered by the Group Zamakona Yards in the Canary islands.
GS-Hydro is a Finnish multinational with over 40 years of history, inventor of bonding systems seamless pipe and hydraulic industry leader in high performance. GS-Hydro is present in over 25 countries worldwide and has a subsidiary in Spain since 1993, with facilities in Madrid and Bilbao and responsible for all operations in Spain, Portugal and France, also serving as support for growth in Latin American countries like Brazil, Chile or Peru.
GS-Hydro has extensive references in the marine sector in terrestrial applications and also in the oil sector and is established in the Canary Islands, through a strategic alliance with Zamakona Yards, and add value to work together, offering all kinds of hydraulic products and services with all the guarantees of quality of the GS-Hydro brand.

Refit of the vessels VOS HERA & HADES

The Zamakona Yards in Pasajes has successfully finished the works carried out in the vessels VOS HADES and VOS HERA that belong to the Company Vroon Offshore Services UK.
The conversion required a major upgrade of the VOS H-Class to enable Rescue & Standby facilities for a Group B vessel. The project´s design done by OSD-IMT OFFSHORE SHIP DESIGNERS was created in order to meet the customer´s requirements and the UK MCA and UKOOA regulations.
– New accommodation areas such as treatment area, hospital, reception, survivors and non survivors’ facilities, etc have been done. For those areas, new steel modules have been necessary, rearrangement of several spaces on board, new rescue zone, etc.
– New bridge wings have been installed according to UKOOA requirements.
– New equipment have been installed, such as:
– Communication equipment for rescue vessel
– One (1) Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) and (1) Daughter Craft (DC)
– One (1) off Hydra marine HMD GM80 Daughter Craft Davit
– Fast Rescue Craft – One (1) off Kosen FRC / FRB
– Painter booms, etc.
– Re-arrangement of the deck machinery and crane.
The owner has used the conversion period to carry out the special survey of the vessel:
– Overhaul of the main engines.
– Review and cleaning of the gensets.
– Complete checking of the propulsion shafts, propellers, rudders, etc.
– Cleaning and painting of the hull.
– Docking and some outfitting works.

Delivery and Reopening of the Caravel La Niña III

This morning in the city of Las Palmas, was held the delivery ceremony and reopening of the Caravel La Niña III, faithful replica of the ship of Columbus, the Caravel “La Niña III“.
Las Palmas is part of the network of Columbian cities of Spain, it is a symbol of the discovery of America, the pass of Christopher Columbus over the island of Gran Canaria and benchmark their contribution to the expansion of the Canary Islands, for its strategic location as a bridge between America, Europe and Africa.
This replica of the Caravel “La Niña” was built in 1992 for the V centenary of the discovery of America. Zamakona Yards has led the restoration project of the same in cooperation with ground forces in a unique example of public-private initiative and corporate social responsibility.
In the picture, we can see our CEO in Canarias, Mr. Alvaro Garaygordóbil, greeting the Hon. Mayor of Las Palmas, Mr. Juanjo Cardona, in the presence of the President of the Gran Canaria lobby, Mr. Jose Miguel Bravo de Laguna and Mr. Eugenio Lopez Polo, chief Colonel of the Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment No. 94.
