Durante la pasada semana, Zamakona Yards estuvo participando en la feria AQUANOR 2013. AQUANOR es un evento organizado por la Fundación Nor-Fishing, creada en 1992 por el Ministerio de Pesca de Noruega. Se celebra cada dos años en la ciudad noruega de Trondheim. En este evento se reúnen las principales empresas relacionadas con la Acuicultura provenientes de Europa y Sudamérica.
El miércoles 14, Zamakona Yards junto al Grupo MMC AS realizó una presentación a varios armadores de buques wellboats. En ella se realizó una exposición de ambas compañías, así como del proyecto de construcción que estamos realizando conjuntamente para Solvtrans AS. Se trata del buque Ronja Polaris. Es un buque que se utiliza para el transporte de pescado vivo. El wellboat de 75,80 metros de eslora y 16 metros de manga, posee una capacidad de tripulación de 11 miembros y 2 motores principales Rolls Royce.
Al día siguiente, celebramos una cena de confraternización con MMC AS y Sovtrans AS. Pasamos un momento muy agradable en la presencia, entre otros, de LEIF GJELSETH, CEO de MMC AS, FRODE BAADE, Gerente de Operaciones de SOLVTRANS AS y VICTOR VARGAS, Gerente General de SOLVTRANS CHILE S.A.

El pasado lunes 6 de mayo, Zamakona Yards con la colaboración de la Asociación de Reparadores Navales (ARN), organizó una charla-conferencia que tuvo como eje central el Mercado Offshore Oil & Gas en West Africa.
Nuestro Grupo es consciente de la importancia estratégica que esta pujante industria tiene para el Puerto de Las Palmas, además de los grandes retos que el sector de reparaciones navales afrontará en los próximos años. Se trata de conseguir entre todos, que el Puerto de La Luz y de Las Palmas sea un referente en la atención a este emergente mercado.
La ponencia fue impartida por D. Adolfo Marrodán, Ingeniero Naval y con Maestría en Administración de Empresas Navieras y Portuarias, que cuenta con una dilatada experiencia en el sector y que ha desarrollado la mayor parte de su labor profesional en África Occidental.
El acto se celebró en el salón de actos de la Autoridad Portuaria, contando con la presencia de D. Luis Ibarra (Presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas) y de D.Borja Garaygordóbil (Director General de Zamakona Yards en Canarias).
A estas jornadas asistieron más de 70 personas de las principales empresas del sector de las reparaciones navales de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
El programa de la jornada abordó diversos aspectos como:
– la historia del negocio offshore – los requerimientos del sector para poder trabajar como proveedor de productos y servicios. – la situación general del sector petrolero en la actualidad (Upstream, midstream y downstream) y las perspectivas a nivel mundial y en el continente africano. – los principales actores en el nicho upstream del sector offshore. – el impacto del sector offshore en la economía marítima y en el upstream. – el análisis de las empresas involucradas en el sector – los aspectos regulatorios y legales.
Por último, deseamos expresar nuestro agradecimiento a todos los participantes por su asistencia y a D. Adolfo Marrodán y D. Luis Ibarra por su apoyo a esta iniciativa.

Zamakona Yards, along with others companies, will sponsor the celebration of the first conference organized by the Spanish tuna industry. We have vast experience in the construction of Fishing Vessels. Today, we are building a Live Fish Carrier for Solvtrans Rederi and a Tuna Purse Seiner Vessel for Echebastar Fleet.
Miguel Arias Cañete, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment will chair the inauguration of the first major National Congress of Spanish tuna industry which will take place in Madrid on 7th and 8th November. The event will address the challenges of the industry, both fishing and canning, from a scientific, technology, environmental, nutritional and historical perspective for highlighting its important economic and social dimensions.
The scientific coordinator of the meeting is José Luis Cort, researcher at IEO. Other prestigious international scientists like Victor Restrepo at the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) or Joshua Santiago, president of the Scientific Committee of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) will also participate. As well as the academic presence, representatives of leading companies and business associations linked to the industry will also attend (INTERATUN, OPAGAC, ANABAC-OPTUC, ANFACO-CECOPESCA and FEICOPESCA).
The Spanish tuna industry represents an annual economic volume of nearly 1,120 million euros, provides 18,600 direct jobs and 43,600 indirect and represents 70% and 67% of the activities of tuna fishing and canning in Europe. The activity is concentrated in Galicia and the Basque Country, which represent together 97% of the total.
The congress will be relate about history of tuna fishing and canning industry, sustainability in tuna fishing and processing, the socioeconomic impact of the tuna sector in Spain, nutritional and healthy consumption of canned tuna, the internationalization of Spanish tuna sector, the R&D+i in the tuna industry and about the prospects and challenges of future.

The Interprofessional Organization of Tuna (INTERATUN) is the first association formally established and recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment in the field of fisheries.
INTERATUN includes tuna vessel owners and the processing industry and marketing of tuna, being represented in it others organizations, ANABAC-OPTUC and OPAGAC as represents of fishery industry and ANFACO and FEICOPESCA as processing and marketing industry.
Since INTERATUN started business in 2001, this organization has joined the efforts of freezer tuna fleet and the processing industry and marketing of tuna to defend common sectoral interests.
