After the Esvagt Corona and the Esvagt Capella, the Esvagt Aurora is the third vessel designed and built by Zamakona Yards for Esvagt AS.
The difference between Esvagt Aurora and the other vessels from her class is the fact that she has been designed and built implementing new non-standardized systems which are not available in the market.
With the development of this new project, Zamakona Yards designs and builds a rescue or stand-by vessel which puts at the disposal of the Owner the technological means capable of satisfying future demands of the Norwegian oil industry (NORSOK R-002 norm) avoiding foreseeable and expensive improvements in the near future in and adapting conventional systems to the new regulations.
These new systems consist of:
– Launching and recovery of rescue boats systems with high chemical and structural resistance.
– New type of double dispersant spray system, specifically designed for x-bow vessels
– New sound proof system for the housing and the bow thruster’s tunnels.
This achieving an increase in the quality of the systems in her operative life span and improving the efficiency and effectiveness as well as the comfort and living conditions on board.
This new prototype is a multipurpose stand-by vessel with an X-bow design with a wide capacity to carry out:
– Rescue in case of emergency at offshore facilities
– Emergency towing
– Fire-fighting
– Operations with ROV (remote operated vehicle)
– Pollution-fighting and residue recovery
– Supplying off-shore oil rigs or installations
More about the innovative elements of all of the abovementioned systems:
Launching and recovery of rescue boats systems with high chemical and structural resistance
The main innovative elements are:
– Reinforced davit structure to increase the security system
– New winches with a double brake system
– Double hydraulic unit
– Galvanized components and resistant to corrosion and made of stainless steel
– Main hydraulic cylinders reinforced and duplicated
– Systems and components adapted for ATEX II areas (explosive atmospheres)
A new type of davit for the launching and recovery of rescue boats has the following characteristics
– Redundant system: the main elements of the davit are duplicated so they will be operative even in case of malfunction or breakdown of any one of them
– High chemical resistance due to the stainless steel and galvanized elements which prevent corrosion thus extending the working life of the system and reducing the need for maintenance.
– High structural resistance which will increase the davit’s efficiency operating with a higher loading capacity and security.
– It is the first system to comply with the upcoming regulation NORSOK R-002 being one step ahead other developments in the market.
New type of double dispersant spray system, specifically designed for x-bow vessels
This system has innovative characteristics such as:
– Specially designed system for x-bow vessels, installed for the first time in such vessels.
– Increase in its operative capacity compared to conventional systems as it allows the operation of the system even in harsh climate conditions at a speed of up to 15 knots:
– Waves 3.5 m significant equal max. sea app. 6 meters
– Wind speed up to 20 m/s
– Air temperature down to -20º C
– System with two separate spray systems, one for thin oil layers and another one for thicker layers. This enables to spray with the adequate drop size as necessary thus optimizing resources and process as a whole.
– New system for stowing, collecting and deploying spray booms. When the system is not being used it is stowed under the deck inside the shape of the hull which is equipped with side hatches in order to deploy the booms easily. They are located on a track system which makes connections to collectors and hoses smooth as well as facilitating deployment.
New sound proof system for the housing and the bow thruster’s tunnels
This sound proof system has the following innovative solutions:
– The sound proof system of the bow thrusters and its housing is composed of a reinforced insulation which is more effective than conventional systems.
– Greater sound proofing capacity of the sound insulation system, with lower sound levels than conventional insulation systems.
– Significant noise level reduction at the housing as well as adjacent rooms conforming to the most restrictive international regulations.
Zamakona Yards is continuing working for the innovation of the oil industry future. We care about our customers.
