• MARINE DAY TOLD BY AN OLD NAVY MARINE

    On the occasion of the Day of Seafarer, in all honesty, I must admit that my desire and willingness to be a sailor is attached to my early years. These are years I remember with great joy. The arrival of some of the sailors returning from campaigns for over a year is celebrated with euphoria. Parties were organized at one of the bars in the village where I was born, where three musicians hired , Vermouth and wine ran on behalf of the home comers.

     

    The first time I went to these parties I was about 13 years and decided without doubt to become a marine, to fulfill the dream of living those adventures and visit all the countries, see the geishas, learn about other cultures and make money. It was in the early sixties and Spain had economic dificulties.

  • Atlantic Offshore orders third vessel with Zamakona Yards

    Atlantic Offshore has ordered a new vessel valued EUR 25 million from the Spanish shipyard Zamakona Yards in Bilbao. The ship is the ninth newbuilding and Atlantic Offshore expects that there will be more new vessel in the fleet over the next few years.

     

    This is the third time the Bilbao based shipyard constructs vessels for Atlantic Offshore. The contract is part of a modernisation program. Atlantic Offshore has recently signed agreements for a total of nine new vessels, four of which are already delivered. The fleet consists of a total of 24 ships, of which 19 are company-owned, and five are on management.

     

    The vessel under construction in Pasajes is a Field Support Vessel (FSV) with Havyard Design HY820, which will operate for Shell UK over a period of five years, and the corresponding option. The ship will be completed and in operation in the second quarter of 2015. Overall, Atlantic Offshore has invested 2.2 billion in fleet renewal, and the newbuildings from Zamakona Yards involves approx 40% contract participation of Norwegian subcontractors.

     

    Oil Producers places great emphasis on modern ships that meet the most stringent requirements and regulations. Additionally, the new ships contain features beyond the emergency response they perform, such as towing, loading and storage capacity, says CEO Roy Wareberg Atlantic Offshore.

  • X Port of Las Palmas Golf Tournament

    Last Saturday in the Salobre Golf, the tenth edition of the Port of Las Palmas Golf Tournament was held.

     

    Zamakona Yards once again participated in the sponsorship of this prestigious tournament which this year attracted more than 90 participants. Our Marketing and Sales director, Leandro Aguirreche, was responsible for handing over the first price for 1st Place Scratch to Agustin Martin, who scored a total of 33 points.

     

    Our customer and friend Jong-Jin Park was 2nd Ranked in the 2nd Category with 39 points.
